The Design – Sleek and Family-Friendly
Mazda has stuck to their flowing, elegant style but given it a fresh electric twist. It sits long and low with sharp LED headlights, flush door handles and smooth aero lines that help keep things quiet on the highway.
At about 4.85 metres long, it’s noticeably bigger than the CX-5 and feels like a proper mid-size family SUV. Inside, it’s airy and calm with soft ambient lighting you can change to suit your mood, a panoramic roof option, and nice materials throughout.
Boot space is 468 litres with the seats up (plus a handy little frunk up front for cables and small bits). Fold the rear seats down and it opens up to around 1,434 litres – plenty of room for the weekly shop, school bags, footy gear or a weekend trip up the coast.
The Electric Side – Simple and Practical
Both grades run the same straightforward setup: a single rear-wheel-drive motor putting out 190 kW and 290 Nm of torque. It’s powered by a 78 kWh LFP battery – the reliable, long-lasting type.
Official WLTP range sits at up to 484 km (a bit less on the bigger wheels). Mazda says in real-world Aussie driving you should comfortably see more than 450 km, which is enough for Brisbane to Gold Coast runs, school drops or even a highway trip north with a buffer.
Fast charging is easy – 30% to 80% in about 15 minutes on a DC fast charger. Home wallbox charging overnight is simple too. It can tow up to 1,500 kg with the optional towing kit if you need it for a small trailer or caravan.
Acceleration to 100 km/h takes around 7.9 seconds – quick enough for merging and overtaking without feeling nervous. Best of all, it still drives like a Mazda: smooth, responsive and fun on our local roads.

You can also option the warm beige interior trim for $1,000 on the GT if you want a lighter, more premium feel.
